In 1993, the "Torfstich" opened as a small snack bar to provide hikers and day-trippers with small culinary specialties. After six years and increasing popularity, he expanded the snack bar into a restaurant with a guesthouse. Since 1999, guests have been able to spend their holidays with us near the Eibenstock dam. Small snack bar that is open at lunchtime on weekends. They serve chips, currywurst, bockwurst, draft beer and much more at fair prices. I can recommend it!

Here you are in the relics of an old medieval tower hill castle of the Fürstenberg, which was surrounded by a wall and moat and has a cistern approx. 2.80 m deep. The facility is one of the largest in the district. There is an information board on the wall. During archaeological investigations in 1989, a wall was uncovered, which suggests an approx. 20 m long building: a square, specially surrounded by a wall and a ditch, the permanent house of the mining manager. The entire mining area, approx. 10,000 m², has numerous pings and the former position of pit houses is recognizable. This area is heavily fractured and has three large pings overlying the Martin-Römer adit and several small pings and heap-like elevations. In the north-west corner of the area there is a separately walled area of 15 m by 20 m, in which archaeological investigations have revealed the remains of a sunken building (pit house) and ceramic fragments.

There are a variety of options for active relaxation at the Filzteich. An 85 m long large water slide, a children's slide, a diving platform, water pedals and rowing boats offer the ideal conditions for an ideal bathing experience. Table tennis tables, a suspension cable car and several children's playgrounds ensure variety and fun. But also beach chairs, loungers, deck chairs for hire, a huge range of sunbathing areas and a nudist beach invite visitors to relax and unwind. Open-air restaurants and snack bars round off a visit to the Filzteich. Furthermore, numerous events take place during the bathing season. The Filzteich is one of the earliest and at the same time the largest water reservoirs in the Schneeberg mining area. The naming is related to the peat bogs in its catchment area, colloquially referred to as felt. These are also responsible for the brownish discoloration of the water due to bog cloudy substances. Since 1933 the Filzteich has been the lido of the region.
