라우슈타인에서 멋진 전망

From Richard Wagner in Graupa to Carl Maria von Weber in Pillnitz, it's exactly six kilometers. At least as a hiking trail. Because, to my knowledge, the two never knew each other personally. And that's despite living only that far apart. However, at different times in their lives. One – Carl Maria von Weber – lived at Hosterwitz Castle near Dresden from 1818 to 1824, the other – Richard Wagner – resided more than twenty years later in the building in Graupa now known as the Lohengrin House. A hiking trail, the Leitenweg, connects the two and thus also follows a section of the Saxon Wine Trail or the Wine Educational Trail.

Teufelsgrund near Wehlen Between Uttewalder Grund and Wehlen, a path to the right leads to Teufelsgrund. This detour turns out to be a little adventure as you walk through the sinister Herring Cave and climb through the Teufelskammer (Devil's Chamber). It's especially fun for children! The power plant is based on a weir system built in 1877, which initially powered neighboring machines in the Weber & Niezel wood grinding and cardboard factory via transmission. In 1910, a Francis turbine and electric generator with an installed capacity of 180 kW were commissioned to generate electrical energy. This was followed in 1932 by the addition of a second turbine with 80 kW. After the Second World War, the weir system was partially repaired in 1963. In 1969, the power plant was shut down due to uneconomical operation, and the facility was left to decay.
