The current main building of the castle dates back to the early 19th century after renovations. The magnificent castle stood empty for 150 years before Jan and Manuela Kube acquired it and carefully renovated it in accordance with historical preservation standards before opening the extensive and impressive Toy Museum in 1988. It is well worth a visit, as dolls, dollhouses and kitchens, rocking horses, tin toys, games, children's books, and tin figures from children's rooms of bygone eras evoke nostalgic memories. The opulent Renaissance Hall and the private chapel can also be visited. Opening hours: From Good Friday to the first Sunday of Advent, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Special openings are possible at any time for registered groups of 15 or more people. The place was first mentioned in 1154/57 as "Brunnen" (Brunn) in a document in which the Heilsbronn Monastery exchanged goods in this and other places for goods in other places. In 1311, the monastery sold its goods to Wolfram von Urach. From 1400 to 1458, the castle was owned by the Lords of Seckendorff, then by the Lords of Lüchau. Brunn Castle was burned down in 1409 (and again in 1501). The core of what is now known as the Old Castle dates from 1525 (the castle was damaged in the Peasants' War) and 1553 (also damaged in the Second Margrave War).

The Dachsbach stream is first documented in 1129 – a knight named Heinrich von Dahspach sold one of his properties to the St. Michael's Monastery in Bamberg for 80 silver marks. The place name derives from a watercourse of the same name, the prefix of which may be dahs (Middle High German for "dachs"). Accordingly, it could have referred to a stream where badgers are found.[7] The town's coat of arms also refers to this meaning.

The billy goat can be seen and heard on the tower of the town hall every day at 12 noon. Before the baroque town hall, commissioned by Friedrich von Obernitz, was built with six trading vaults ("benches") for various trades and the pillory facing Kirchgasse on the north side, a department store belonging to the Margrave stood in its place until the devastating town fire of 1553. In April 1947, a fire occurred in the town hall. From 1948 to 1951, the town hall was rebuilt with some innovations such as the conversion of the round arches on the ground floor into arcades and the addition of the town hall tower with the billy goat.
