Terespol Powder Magazine - a facility built in 1913, part of the Terespol suburb of the Brest Fortress. Five years later - in 1918 - Poland regains its independence and becomes its host. Until the outbreak of World War II, it was under the care of the Polish Army. Then it falls into the hands of the Third Reich (Germany). In 1941, it houses the headquarters of the 45th Wehrmacht Division, which served, among others, Josef Kurt Waldheim (later Secretary General of the United Nations (1972-1981) and President of Austria (1986-1992). After the end of the war the Powder Magazine returns to Polish possession. Since then it has been systematically degraded as a warehouse and economic facility. is entered in the register of monuments. In 2010, the progressive degradation of the Powder Magazine is prevented by the informal organization of regional enthusiasts - the Terespol Group of Fortifications and History Enthusiasts. From year to year, thanks to the disinterested support and social commitment of enthusiasts, it changes its face. The powder magazine becomes a museum open to visitors, offering an interesting history lesson. So far, several exhibitions have been prepared - halls: - Polish Legions and the Constitution of May 3 - railway (History of the Warsaw-Terespolska Railway) - ethnographic - military - aviation and craftsmanship. prepares exhibitions , takes care of the facility and exhibits, but also shares professional knowledge.
