The new cycle bridge over the Isar River near Garching has connected the research campus with Fischerhäuser in Ismaning since July 2024. It creates a safe, direct connection for cyclists and pedestrians, facilitates access to the Isar meadows, and shortens routes between the campus and the city. A modern highlight for local mobility and experiencing nature.

Cycling or walking along the Isar is always beautiful.

The bridge would be built in 2023.

Many bikers will likely simply roll past the beautiful crucifix, which presents itself here along with two benches, without paying much attention to the lovingly crafted depiction of the cross – with its gable cross and back wall, the Corpus Christi, and a text plaque. But from my – admittedly purely subjective – perspective, both the panorama and the small sacred monument, which reminds us of the crucified and risen Christ – and thus our hope for our own resurrection and 'eternal life' with God(!) – are certainly worth a short break along the way.
