... the "Holy Cross Cathedral" in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Baden-Württemberg. - It is the oldest Gothic hall church in southern Germany - Height of the cathedral with turret: 51 m in total, length: 78 m in total, width: 24 m or 28 m (with choir) - Construction period from 1351 to 1521; a Romanesque church had previously stood here - The collapse of the two Romanesque towers in 1497 was dramatic (fortunately, no one was injured) - Built of Stubensandstein (sandstone), hence the extensive renovation work currently underway - Renovations from 1975 to 2009 and ongoing further renovations since 2020 (renovation planned until 2030) My highlights of the church: Interior: 1.
