The well-known area of the Grengspitz*1) is largely subject to nature conservation. Nevertheless, a few easily accessible (bicycle) paths lead to the headland, at the top of which there are fireplaces and a large wooden table with benches that entice you to linger. Some trash cans make it easier to stay organized, just like several Robidog*2). The area is very busy in the warmer seasons and during holidays and vacations, even in the evenings! The exposed location offers a great view of and over Lake Murten to the hills of Mont Vully opposite and the neighboring towns. *Info 1) https://hls-dhs-dss.ch/de/articles/058005/2019-04-03/ 2) https://www.robidog.ch/

The entire section can be divided several times. First of all, starting from the west (Salavaux / Le Chablais), jogging, walking or biking (in the season / holiday season and on weekends not recommended) over the neatly maintained / tidy sandy beach and subsequent pebble beach in the morning. Then you drive (!) through a camping area, which has its charm due to the beautiful and large trees despite the operation. But the last part is tough, at least for bikers. It is often pushed, lifted or whatever. It is really wildly romantic, on longer sections you get a real jungle feeling. The vegetation (depending on the season) is rampant and getting through is more designed for pedestrians and in most places at most handlebar width, but often less. In addition, long trousers are not wrong. Otherwise, the many spikes and nettles have an easy time, as does the very special pointed grass, which rises up almost like a thorn/steel and usually leaves its mark up to knee height. Boarding is not possible, the few and short sections that can really be ridden in the third part are very winding, crooked, peppered with roots and the transverse trunks everywhere are natural brakes, which in view of the natural environment is more beneficial than an annoyance (Sometimes it is better to push underneath, sometimes over it, or sideways through the bushes). In many places you ask yourself, left or right... the wider path is usually right (or just wrong, if you want to get to really remote corners, but that can only be done on foot without exception)! No matter which section, bathing, resting, enjoying nature is possible almost everywhere. However, only the first section has waste bins. Unfortunately, during my tour I discovered rubbish everywhere in the hidden bays and corners (and disposed of a considerable part of it properly). This does not have to be the case, as the goods arrive, they can also be taken back. Either you didn't understand the experience of "nature" and the principle of decency, respect and responsibility, or you were no longer able to implement the "common sense" that has been overused again and again, or you're just fooling around about things like that!

Very beautiful old French town with many cafes to linger. Furthermore, on the edge of the old town you have a fantastic view of Lake Murten.

Easy and flat for riding a bike or for hiking. Ideal in summer to enjoy the shade. In many places there are opportunities to get directly to the lake on narrow paths or to follow the shore over long distances. However - when the weather is nice, at the weekend and during the holiday season (summer) - the area is extremely well visited. This also because of several large campsites! If you prefer to be almost alone on the road, you can avoid the busy times and enjoy the area. If you have enough time, you can spend a whole day in one and the same spot or visit several places on the water. There are opportunities to grill almost everywhere.

Neolithic and Bronze Age riverside settlements on the southern shore of Lake Murten, in the municipality of Greng (FR), since 2011 under the collective name Greng-Spitz Unesco World Heritage. As far as the historical or prehistoric relevance. In addition, it is a wonderful corner with a view of Lake Murten and a couple of nice barbecue areas in between.
