Beard's Hollow is a beach located in a circular indentation at the foot of a cliff on the Pacific Ocean, roughly one mile west of Ilwaco. It was named in honor of Captain E. N. Beard, the bark Vandalia's commanding officer. Unfortunately, the Vandalia was lost at sea near the mouth of the Columbia in 1853, and all crew members perished. The ship was later found floating upside down near McKenzie Head, and Captain Beard's body was discovered on the beach below what is now called Beard's Hollow.

This charming retreat is located half a mile from the ocean and three miles from Cape Disappointment State Park. Accommodations include rooms, cottages, and vintage campers with retro touches. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi, shared or private kitchens, and some units have additional amenities such as TVs and claw-foot tubs. On-site amenities include a grocery store, vintage shop, loaner bikes, outdoor kitchen, fire pits, live music on weekends, and campsites.

This expansive 4,300-acre park boasts a rich military history, having once been a vital installation that guarded the entrance of the Columbia River. This beautiful park has a lot to explore, including excellent trails for multiple running routes, a freshwater lake, beaches, dunes, a museum and a fascinating historic shipwreck.

Youngs River Road is a must ride for a peaceful escape with breathtaking views of Saddle Mountain, lush forests, and the soothing sounds of the Youngs River along the way. As you journey down this road, you'll pass by charming houses, old hay silos, and a Christmas tree farm that adds to the nostalgic charm of the area. Keep your eyes peeled for the local wildlife, including cows, deer, horses, and a variety of birds.

Youngs River Falls is an incredibly popular destination during the summer months for its refreshing waters and picturesque scenery. The waterfall, surrounded by lush forest, stands at an impressive height of 54 feet, with the warm waters of the Youngs River cascading down into a pool below that reaches a depth of between five and seven feet. The beautiful falls can be easily viewed from the parking lot, or you can take the short 0.25-mile trail leading to the waterfall's base for the perfect spot to cool off on a hot day.

The Cathedral Tree is a 300-year-old giant Sitka spruce nestled in the forested hillside. It's 8.5 feet in diameter, over 200 feet high, and has impressive buttress-like roots that can provide shelter if you get caught in the rain. Despite a windstorm in December 2007 that toppled many of the surrounding trees, the Cathedral Tree remained standing. It's definitely worth taking a side trip to see this majestic beauty.
