After German reunification After 1991, when the seaside resort was included in the urban development program, huge sums were invested in modernizing the infrastructure. Guest houses, restaurants and hotels returned to private hands and were largely renovated, so that Bansin's townscape increasingly regained its traditionally sophisticated character. In 1997, the community was awarded the title of Baltic Sea health resort. On January 1, 2005, the three Baltic Sea resorts of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin, which had previously been independent communities, were merged to form the community of Dreikaiserbäder. On January 1, 2006, this was renamed Heringsdorf.

The pier in Ahlbeck is well worth seeing. It's a wonderful place to take a break.

The tower is now rented out as a holiday apartment. It's not exactly cheap, but it's still fully booked.

You can stay overnight there for a hefty price or you can simply eat the snack bar that claims to have the best potato salad in the world.

Very nice cycle path through hilly terrain! Beautiful scenery and several cafes to rest and enjoy.
