A trip to Rammstein Castle in the Kyll Valley is worthwhile. The castle is a lovely place to stop for a bite to eat!

2025: Many detours add a lot of elevation gain. The railway line is undergoing major renovations, and the railway is blocking the trails. I still enjoyed it, but it was considerably more strenuous than expected. Apparently, flooding is more frequent, which is why some short sections of the trail are permanently in poor condition. But the majority of the trail is in top-notch paved condition.

Anyone interested in castle ruins should take the relatively easy detour from the Kylltal cycle path.

Unfortunately, one can no longer call it a waterfall; perhaps the name "Irrel Canyon" would be more appropriate? But regardless, it's a beautiful piece of nature, and nature is constantly changing. The damaged old wooden bridge has since been replaced by a suspension bridge.

Near the confluence of the Enz and Prüm rivers, the L4 country road crosses the Prüm. From here, you have a pleasant view of the river.
