You can safely leave your car at the parking lot in Ruś. Continuing upstream, you'll reach the bridge at the hydroelectric power plant. You can cross the river and return to your car along the left bank. I highly recommend it.

The destroyed bridge over the Łyna River

A little over 120 years ago, a glassworks with a grinding shop, a tavern and a school operated here. The settlement had a population of about 300 people. The three furnaces of the glassworks produced window glass, glasses, bottles and dishes. Wood ash was leached to obtain potassium - a valuable raw material for the production of paints, beer and glass. The surrounding forests provided wood, of which the glassworks used 8-9 thousand cubic meters per year.

I didn't expect this bridge to be so large and high, and the beautiful bed of the Łyna River.

The place where the Łyna River flows from Lake Ustrych is separated by a small hydroelectric power plant. This point is called the Ustrych Power Plant. The power plant itself is maintenance-free and the water damming height is about 1 m. The water moves two small power turbines, which are secured with three bulkheads.

The "Las Warmiński" reserve is named after the famous Olsztyn botanist - prof. Benona Polakowskiego - with an area of 1803.15 ha, it is one of the largest forest nature reserves in Poland. Tree stands over 100 years old occupy nearly 63% of the site's area. In the reserve, apart from common animals, we can meet such species as: European otter, weasel, badger, dormouse or bats. A magnificent inhabitant of the forest is the European deer with a characteristic, slender body structure. Deer from Warmia are characterized by particularly beautiful antlers and are second only to Carpathian deer in this respect. There are also wolves in the reserve.
