The Old Cemetery in Buttstädt, in the district of Sömmerda, dates from the Renaissance and is one of the few remaining cemetery complexes with tombs from the Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicism periods in Central Germany. The cemetery, lined by two arcaded halls, is counted among the so-called Camposanto cemeteries, called Campo Santi in Italian. The village church of Oberreißen is a hall church and was founded in the high Middle Ages.

Campo Santo is currently part of BUGA and is open to all visitors.

Buttstädt's Camposanto will be a branch of the Buga in 2021 and is lovingly maintained by an association. The cemetery is built in the Renaissance style with arcades and tombs from the 16th-19th centuries. It is one of only three similar cemeteries in Germany. Definitely worth seeing.
