Svendborg Station is not only a transportation hub, but also a living piece of the city's history. Located directly at Klosterplads 9-10, it connects the pedestrian zone with the harbor, making it the heart of the city. It opened in 1876, along with the opening of the Svendborg Railway line to Odense. The main building was designed by the Danish architect N.P.C. Holsøe and completed in 1878. The solid brick facade and clearly structured forms are typical of the railway architecture of the time.

The sculpture "Drengen og Svanen" (The Boy and the Swan) on Jessens Mole in Svendborg is a charming work of art with a rich history. Originally created by Herman Ernst Freund in the early 19th century, a copy of the original, located in Kongens Have in Copenhagen, now stands in Svendborg. The depiction depicts a boy playfully interacting with a swan, a scene that exudes tranquility and childlike curiosity. The work of art also functions as a fountain, its gently rippling water adding to the atmosphere on the harbor promenade. Despite vandalism, which once saw the sculpture thrown into the water, it has been restored and now shines once again in its original location.

Kai Nielsen's bronze sculpture "Sensual Little Girl" was erected in 1930 in front of St. Nicholas Church in Svendborg in memory of the artist, who died in 1924. The preliminary work for the sculpture, titled "Seated Woman," was done in plaster in 1916. Wiggers Gaard, designed by architect Fritz Jørgensen, was built in 1939 in the Renaissance style. Its inspiration came from buildings in the "Old Town" in Aarhus and from "Anne Hvides Gård." The facade facing the square is 18 meters long and 32 meters long toward Ramsherred. The half-timbered structure is made of heartwood pine, and the masonry is made of red brick. The roof is clad in red tiles. The interior features extensive use of oak wood, acquired from the brig "Hvalfisken," which served as a training ship in Svendborg harbor for several years. In the mid-19th century, three Wiggers brothers settled in Svendborg and founded a company. Chr. Wiggers took over the dye works and the shop of the grocer Krøyer in Torvet, Vilhelm Wiggers opened a dye works at the corner of Korsgade and Skattergade, and Poul Wiggers took over the dye works of the grocer Fog in Gerritsgade, where he built a large business. Parts of these companies later congregated on the square, where Chr. Wiggers built a clothing factory and dye works in 1872. The factory was hit by fire several times, first in 1874, then in 1896 and 1897. In the 1930s, Wiggers abandoned clothing production and sold the rear part of the property to the municipality, which built the current town hall there in 1937/39. At the same time, Wiggers built, among other things, a new front building for the manufacturing industry as an extension to the town hall. By 1960, Wiggers had divested itself of various parts of its production, while continuing its manufacturing operations as a men's and women's clothing store. Wiggers' last business in the old premises was "Wiggers Business Clothing." Anne Hvide's Farm was built in the 1560s by the noblewoman Anne Hvide of Rødkilde, making it, along with the churches, the oldest building in Svendborg. In 1900, Svendborg Municipality took over the farm. Afterward, it became the treasurer's office and the seat of the tax assessment commission. By this time, some of the original buildings had already been demolished. For a time, it housed a city and county library and even a mayor's office. After a somewhat turbulent life, Anne Hvide's old house was handed over to the board of the Svendborg County Museum in 1912 in exchange for a thorough restoration. In 1915, Anne Hvide's Farm was converted into a museum. The Svendborg Museum was located here until 1974, when it moved to its current location in the old almshouse at Grubbemøllevej 13. For many years, Anne Hvide's farm was used for special exhibitions and Christmas events.
