The Gunnestorp wetlands are a mixture of lake, marsh, and wet meadows. A footbridge spans the area, offering a deeper insight into this world of water and reeds.

The mighty block crane in the port of Gothenburg is the most striking reminder of the Eriksberg shipyard, which shaped Gothenburg's industrial scene for more than a hundred years. The crane is to be preserved as a cultural monument, even though it was only allowed to serve the shipyard during its final ten years. The almost 80-meter-tall crane was built in Cologne before being erected on the shipyard site in Gothenburg in 1969. However, only a short time later, the major crisis in European shipbuilding began, which led to the shipyard's demise exactly a decade later. On June 15, 1979, the last ship, a tanker, was launched. The shipyard's origins lie in a galvanizing company founded in 1850, which, among other things, was a supplier to shipbuilding. Complete shipbuilding began shortly thereafter. The first steam launch was built at the end of October 1873. Shortly thereafter, thanks to a capital injection from the former company, "Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB" was founded. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Eriksberg was the smallest of the three Gothenburg shipyards, with around 400 employees. Passenger boats, steam launches, and tugs were produced for the Scandinavian market. This changed in 1915 when the shipyard was taken over by the influential Broström shipping family. Daniel Broström, who served for a time as a minister in the Swedish government during the First World War, became the majority shareholder. The shipyard's continued rise was not halted even by a major fire in 1927 that destroyed part of the production facilities. The shipyard boomed well after the Second World War. In the 1950s and 1960s, Eriksberg was considered the most economically successful shipyard in Sweden. However, the end came quite quickly. In the early 1970s, competition from Asian shipbuilders became too fierce – the decline of shipyards began not only in Sweden. In 1975, the Swedish government took over the company and initiated liquidation. Four years later, it was finally over. The memory of shipbuilding is kept alive in Gothenburg. In 2010, an international lighting design association recognized the lighting of the block crane as the world's best lighting design and described it as a "valuable contribution to local culture." And just a few weeks ago, two shimmering golden propellers were installed as a new art object on the former shipyard site, commemorating the past.
