Not the best asphalt, but a nice cycling area through the forest.

This chapel was built in 1944 in honor of Mary. With this, the parish showed its gratitude for being spared the violence of war that had caused so much damage elsewhere. The post-war house of worship is a three-sided closed building in yellow brick under a straw roofing. The interior has a brick vault. Against the blind closing sides are at the back a small brick altar depicting Mary and child with associated texts arranged in segmental savings fields. A framed glass mosaic shows a crowned Lady with a child in her arm. To the left and right of this we read the painted text: “Sancta Maria succere misereris juva pusillanimes refove flebilis ora pro populi” and the translation: “Holy Mary, help us poor people, support the faint-hearted, awaken the accustomed, pray for the people”. Shady segment. Wonderful to cool down here during hot days. History: The Liesbos is first mentioned in a charter of Hendrik V, lord of Breda, from 1268. This forest on the border of Princenhage and Etten, named after the hamlet of Lies, is one of the oldest deciduous forests in the Netherlands. From the beginning of the fifteenth century until 1795, it was owned by the Nassaus, later Oranje-Nassaus, as lords of Breda. In 1795 it came to the State and now falls under Staatsbosbeheer. The Liesbos was used for hunting, a favorite activity of the high nobility such as the Oranje-Nassaus, and for timber production. It was surrounded by a wall so that game could not escape from the forest and conversely the farmers' cattle could not damage the forest. Nowadays, the recreational and nature function of the forest is paramount.

Climb this special lookout tower in a surprising location and discover not only rushing traffic, but also the beautiful city of Breda and its surroundings. Admire the design An eye-catching work of art in a surprising environment, that is the Bliksemschicht lookout tower, designed by the Breda artist Martien Kuipers. The tower is located right along the A16, the fast cycle path between Breda and Etten-Leur and the high-speed line over which trains travel at more than 300 kilometers per hour. Speed is therefore the theme of this Z-shaped lookout tower, an ode to the fleeting traveler. The 22 meter high observation tower stands on a 6 meter high slope and is made entirely of steel. The steel parts are connected with 4800 screws. Due to its Z-shape, the 32-ton lookout tower leans forward. To keep the lookout tower in place, a large concrete box full of sand has been placed as a counterweight. So firmly anchored. Once at the top of the 80-step staircase, you not only have a view over the highway and the high-speed line, but you also have a view of Breda. Even the Amercentrale in Geertruidenberg can be seen. The St. Catherine's Church in Etten-Leur, also known as the Town Hall Church and now the Van Gogh Church, has a rich history dating back to 1261. The church has been rebuilt and adapted several times, including after its destruction during the Eighty Years' War and the collapse of its tower in 1732. The building took on its current form in 1821. Since 1970, after a renovation, the church has been used as a meeting hall for the municipal council. Since 2014, it has been the Van Gogh Church, where visitors can learn more about Van Gogh's time in Etten through information panels and an adjacent information center.
