Every year on August 15, the Church celebrates an event that, in the (Catholic) liturgical calendar, even holds the rank of a solemnity: the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, popularly known as the "Assumption of Mary." The prayer for this special occasion in the missal reads as follows: + "Almighty and eternal God, you preserved the Blessed Virgin Mary, who bore Christ for us, from all sin and raised her body and soul to the glory of heaven. Grant that we may look to this sign of hope and consolation and remain on the path that leads to your glory."

The parish church of St. Filippen is located at Kirchenweg 39 in the village of St. Filippen in the market town of Brückl in the district of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. Recorded between 1096 and 1105, it was consecrated in 1528. The late Gothic church was significantly remodeled in 1862, and the west tower was added.
