Veere is located on the former island of Walcheren in Zeeland. It's a city with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Once a thriving trading center, the city has retained its medieval charm while bearing silent witness to many historical events. Founded in 1474 by Hendrik IV of Borssele. The foundation stone was laid by his grandson Louis. It is a Late Gothic building, designed by Mr. Evert Spoorwater. Statue niches designed by Andries Keldermans depict the Lords and Ladies of Borssele. In 1934, the old statues were replaced by new ones made by O. Wenckebach. The beach at the De Schelphoek nature reserve is a lovely, child-friendly location. It features a large lawn for sunbathing and a sandy beach where you can cool off in the shallow water. Parking and public restrooms are available at the edge of the lawn.

The Veerse Meer is a very special place—a hidden treasure in the Dutch province of Zeeland. 🌊✨ It used to be part of the open North Sea, but today it lies sheltered between dikes and islands. This has created a long, inland body of water with crystal-clear, calm waters. Particularly beautiful are the small, uninhabited islands, which lie like green dots in the blue of the sea.
