From several points around Vaxholm, you get a stunning view of Vaxholm Fortress, a historic 16th-century fort built to protect Stockholm from naval attacks. Today, it houses a museum showcasing the area’s military history, and the fortress itself stands proudly amid the sparkling waters of the archipelago.

Danviksbro is a historic bascule bridge connecting Södermalm with the municipality of Nacka. The modernized structure is 22m wide and has lanes for cars, pedestrians and cyclists, underlining the city's commitment to multimodal transport.

The sculpture was created by the American sculptor Marshall Fredericks (1908–1998) in 1995 based on plans by the Swedish sculptor Carl Milles.
