The crosses have been embedded in a whitewashed wall so they stand out even more and are there to remember an event that occurred in 1849. We are in the midst of the anti-Bourbon riots when some political prisoners are taken from the prison installed in Palazzo d'Avalos and are massacred. The crosses are there precisely to remember their death.

Everyone will wonder why it is called the “Birds’ Path”? The name is due to a rich and documented presence of different species of bird fauna, protected by the Campi Flegrei Regional Park Authority and the municipal administration of Bacoli.
