🪵 History and Foundation - The first church in Kamieniec existed as early as the 13th century, founded by monks from Trzemeszno. - In 1521, the church was dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and from 1608 to St. James the Less. - The current building was built in 1723–1724 at the initiative of parish priest Jan Cieński, on the site of a demolished earlier church. - In the 18th century, the Brotherhood of St. Joseph, whose image was considered miraculous by the faithful, was founded at the parish. 🏛️ Architecture - The church is a log structure, clapboarded on the outside, with a post-and-beam tower. - A single-space structure without a separate chancel, typical of rural churches in the region. - In 1931, the roof was reshingled, and in 1948, the foundation was replaced with a stone foundation. - In the 1960s, the cladding was replaced, and interior renovations have been underway since the 1990s. 🎨 Interior and furnishings - The original furnishings from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved: - A Baroque main altar from 1724, - A late Baroque pulpit, - Elements of folk religious crafts. - The church is located on the Way of St. James, which gives it additional pilgrimage significance.

The water tower is a utility structure built on a hill overlooking the city, hence visible from afar. Designed in 1905, it is 41 meters high. The red brick structure of the tower is a building, under the top of which a 150 m³ water tank was installed, supplying the municipal water supply network. It was put into operation in 1906. The first renovation and modernization works were carried out a decade later. Since then, it has fulfilled its utility tasks without a hitch for decades. The sculpture of Redlich in the Stary Dwór forester's lodge shows him with a horn and a doe. The animal symbolizes the care of the forest and its inhabitants. The horn may be an allusion to the possibility of posthumous intervention, which is mentioned in the legend, according to which the spirit of the forester became a posthumous defender of the forest, who looks after the good of the surrounding nature. Paul Redlich - German owner of the Skorzęcin forests from the beginning of the 20th century. His wish was to be buried after his death among the trees he had planted and tended. And so it happened. When he died in 1916, he was buried about 300 meters from the Stary Dwór forester's lodge in Skorzęcin. On the left side of the grave are five Douglas firs, each symbolizing ten years of the deceased's life. Today they are about 30 meters tall. According to legend, the forester's spirit became the posthumous defender of the forest and the surrounding nature, chasing away poachers and all those who act to their detriment. (pojezierze24.pl)
