A fantastic cycling and hiking trail leads along this route, amidst beautiful nature and past the half-timbered houses of the Altes Land region with their traditional gateways. Highly recommended and interesting at the same time.

A very beautiful mill in Jork. A short detour from the main road, then turn left and you've arrived. Unfortunately, the café is closed and no longer in operation. A real shame since October 30, 2023. Nevertheless, the mill is still worth seeing.

Buxtehude is a beautiful town with many sights and attractions. Many listed buildings are located, mostly in the harbor area and along the Fleth canal.

A hike along the Este dike is highly recommended: a beautiful circular walk. Spring or autumn are best. In the height of summer, there's no shade. You'll be treated to various views of the surrounding nature, the Este River, and the thatched-roof houses. There are plenty of benches for taking a short break. The lock house is also very interesting and worth a visit 👍🏼.

In August 2017, a 1:3 scale model of a Hanseatic cog, built from Corten steel according to original plans, was erected on the roundabout at Estebrügger Straße. It is approximately nine meters long and has a mast about six meters high. The cog displays the nine coats of arms of Buxtehude on its hull. The sail is adorned with both the Hanseatic cross and the logo of the Hanseatic city. A truly beautiful sight. The cog combines Hanseatic tradition with the modernity of the city. A visit is highly recommended 👍🏼.

The port of the Hanseatic city of Buxtehude is the navigable endpoint of the Este, a tributary of the Elbe. Mills and factories once thrived there. The port is the heart of the Hanseatic city of Buxtehude. Until the 19th century, it provided an important connection for long-distance traffic via the Lower Elbe. Industry was established in Buxtehude because of the port. The railway, which began operating in 1881, and later the road connection, displaced shipping traffic in Buxtehude. Around 1980, part of the port was built over with the harbor bridge. Nevertheless, historical buildings have been preserved, such as the customs office built in 1870 at Moortorstraße 2, which is very beautiful to look at 👍🏼. The waters of the Este once powered the Flethmühle (Fleth Mill) in the city center of Buxtehude. Below that point, the Fleth was tide-dependent and navigable for barges of up to 100 tons until 1972.

Residents of Jork will have an alternative to the current supermarket offerings: a weekly market with fresh, regional produce. The weekly market takes place every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Altländer market square in the center of Jork.

Jork Town Hall Year Built: 17th Century Elevation: approx. 1 m above sea level (See map). The town hall in the historic center of Jork is a three-story, historic timber-framed building constructed in the mid-17th century by Count Matthäus von Haren. The town is also known as the Altes Land region and has a very eventful history. The town hall boasts a beautiful entrance portal adorned with coats of arms. In front of it is a charming little garden with parkland, benches, lanterns, and an anchor monument. The building underwent extensive restoration in the 1970s and has been beautifully restored.
