As early as 1230, a church in Beidendorf was mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register. During a storm in 1703, the church suffered major damage. And a lightning strike in the tower caused a fire, which ultimately destroyed the tower and the already damaged nave. The church was then rebuilt.
