Beautiful church with a small park

The manor house, built around 1830, probably on the walls of an older building, was partially demolished after 1999, leaving only the side wings, built after 1848, intact. The farm workers' house next to the manor house was expanded and reconstructed. The last original manor building, a large barn, was demolished in 2012. The pavilion offers a sheltered place to rest. The Ranzin orchard was established in 2016 and is maintained by the Steinfurth Art and Nature Association. It features approximately 70 varieties of fruit, including walnut and sweet chestnut. We process most of the fruit into juice. Since 2021, orchard cultivation has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage in Germany and is celebrated every year on the last weekend in April when all the fruit trees are in bloom. Also visit the forest edge garden in Steinfurth, where a wild herb meadow and garden beds are bordered and interwoven with trees. Simply drive through the Karlsburg-Oldenburg Forest. The church was built around 1300 under the patronage of the Eldena monastery and was badly destroyed several times. The church received its current shape around 1750.

It extends from the northern edge of the village, where the old farm buildings of the former estate are still located, in a southwesterly direction. It is divided in two by the village street. The area is separated from the street and the historic estate village by a wall, which also includes the cemetery with the Behrenhoffer Church. The entrance to the northern part is dominated by the striking Bärentor, built around 1900. The two plastered pillars have coupled double half-columns at the front and back. They are crowned by bears with heraldic shields. The bear on the left holds the coat of arms of the von Heyden family, the one on the right that of the von Behr family. The park's rich dendrological stock includes a leatherbush tree, two copper beeches, a tulip tree, a red oak with a witch's broom, a multi-stemmed sweet chestnut and a multi-stemmed silver linden tree. There are also several lily magnolias and rhododendrons in the complex. In spring, larger populations of Märzenbecher characterize the park.

The coats of arms and the wall paintings from the 17th century are very interesting. Services take place in the church every 14 days.
