CarlAlexanderPark is a large recreation and out-of-the-way area in the German town of Baesweiler (North Rhine-Westphalia), near the border with the Netherlands. It is best known for its landscape park, which was created on the site of a former coal mine, and its Bergfoyer (Bergfoyer) as a central starting point for visitors. CarlAlexanderPark is a redeveloped former mining site (Grube Carl Alexander) that now serves as a large-scale nature walking and recreation area. The old coal deposits (heaps/halde) have been transformed into a park with hiking trails, viewpoints, and recreational facilities. The park has several paths and a steep route to an 80-meter-high mountain plateau with views over the Meuse-Rhine Euregion. The halde and surrounding areas have been restored as a nature reserve with unique flora and fauna, and information signs along the path. There are also playgrounds, open spaces, and a youth campsite in the Bergpark at the foot of the halde.

Teewensee is an idyllic lake surrounded by vast dunes and wooded areas, a place where water and sand blend harmoniously. Reeds and wild plants grow along the banks, while the open water provides a haven for birds, dragonflies, and other aquatic creatures. The area exudes peace and tranquility, ideal for walks or short breaks where you can fully immerse yourself in nature. The play of light on the water and the soft colors of the dunes change with each season, making Teewensee a photogenic and serene natural wonder.

Amidst the vast Teverener Heide stands a simple signpost, a familiar beacon in the expansive natural landscape. The wooden posts and directional signs point the way past heathlands, fens, and sandy paths—routes where silence and space prevail. The signpost serves not only as a practical orientation point but also as a symbol of choice and direction in nature. Here, you chart your path amidst purple heather, swaying grass, and the scent of pine.

The Seerosenteich in the Teverener Heide nature reserve is an idyllic pond surrounded by lush greenery and heathland. Water lilies float on the reflective surface, while dragonflies and birds bring the area to life. Also special for me personally: I completed a 50-week hiking streak here—a milestone to be proud of!
