Beautiful, cute old town of this small town

A very small chapel right down by the Saale river, somewhat hidden between the houses

The Catholic Church of St. Nicholas is located on Saalstraße, at the corner of Brückenplatz in Kahla. It is a branch church of St. Elisabeth in Gera and belongs to the deanery of Gera in the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen. As the inscription on the entrance side attests, the church, which was part of a hospital, was rebuilt in 1486. From around 1550 until the end of the 19th century, it served primarily as a chapel for the formerly neighboring "old cemetery," but also occasionally as an alternative site for the town church when renovations or repairs were necessary. The sign here told me it was 166 m above sea level and sometimes it is so deep that the Saale spills over the banks 😅

Transfer to the right. Exit is great, but re-entry is a bit more challenging.

The over 115-year-old Eutersdorf Bridge is a must-see.
