Enjoy the breathtaking view of the largest glacier in the Alps, which is 20 km long. The tongue of the Aletsch glacier can be admired here without much effort. In the traditional Hotel Belalp, the view can be enjoyed even better with a meal or a coffee. The villa was built for Sir Ernest Cassel, a British banker from Cologne in Germany and financial advisor to King Edward VII, and was inaugurated in 1902. Since 1904, Winston Churchill also stayed in the villa and the adjacent chalet several times.

The Schmadri Hut at 2,260 metres is an unattended refuge at the end of the Lauterbrunnen Valley. It has eight beds that must be reserved in advance. There is running water about 30 metres south of the hut.
