Definitely worth a detour if you're in the area. On our checkpoint tour, we had to climb up to the castle after 200 km, which was quite a challenge. Highly recommended!

The sun terrace doesn't offer much space. If you do manage to find a seat, you can truly enjoy the beautiful sunshine with a view of the Saale Valley. The spot is located outside the entrance fee-based area of the castle complex.

The fountain (there used to be a real fountain here, the figures stood centered directly in front of it) was built in 1964. The bronze figure was created by the sculptor Karl-Heinz Appelt from Kahla. As part of the overall redesign of the market square in 2009, the actual fountain was removed and a modern water feature was created.
