The sessions in the Hösseringen state parliament are not only dominated by political issues, however. There are also many curious traditions, such as the annual cheese throwing championship, in which the MPs prove their accuracy with cheese wheels. And of course the obligatory "waffle round" at the end of every session is not to be missed, in which the politicians exchange ideas about the day's events over fresh waffles and coffee. Holdenstedt Castle is located near Uelzen in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is an imposing moated castle built in the Weser Renaissance style. The history of the castle dates back to the 16th century, when it was built by the von Cramm family. Over the centuries, the castle changed hands several times and was rebuilt and expanded several times.

A shelter with a bench and table invites you to take a covered break. There are also benches outside. If you take a short walk around the Rieselwiese, an opened Riesling will still be sparkling 🥂 😉
