The forest lake, which is around 280 metres long and around 90 metres wide, is around five metres deep at its deepest point. It is located in the northern part of the "Sonnenburger Wald und Ahrendskehle" nature reserve. Formerly known as the Black Pond, it was renamed the Devil's Lake almost 200 years ago. As part of the Hammerthal, there are numerous stories about the lake. Today, you can find numerous beaver tracks around the lake and some beaver lodges. A lawn invites you to linger and the lake itself is of course a great place to cool off.

Since the 1880s, "foreign" trees have been planted in the Sonnenburg district to test their suitability for Prussian forestry. It is thanks to such experimental clumps that we have the stately Douglas fir, which at around 50 meters was named the tallest tree in Brandenburg. https://bad-freienwalde.de/baasee/

In the 17th century the Oder still flowed through the Oderbruch. From Güstebiese the stream turned 90° to the west and flowed towards Wriezen. The main stream at that time then stretched along what is now the Alte Oder to Hohensaaten and further towards Schwedt. The river known as the Güstebieser Alte Oder begins here on the Oder dike near Güstebieser Loose and flows southwest to Wriezen, from where it is the Wriezener Alte Oder.

The tallest tree in Brandenburg measures exactly 48.20 meters and stands on Lake Baasee near Bad Freienwalde and is a coastal Douglas fir.

Great cycle path (as almost always on the Oder-Neisse cycle path) with good surface and beautiful landscape.

The Teufelssee is an idyllically located lake west of Bad Freienwalde. Several hiking trails, such as the Oderlandweg or the Turmwanderweg, pass by here. A very beautiful lake that invites you to linger and rest.

you can only get here on foot, there is no cable car here. It's not that crowded either
