When I explored this section in July, I was amazed at the quality of the trail. Despite previous concerns about stray trees, these obstacles had already been cleared, making way for a smooth and challenging ride. The trail begins with a particularly challenging section that will test every biker's skills. Technically demanding and partly blocked, it offers an exciting mix of natural obstacles and varied terrain. The section is not only challenging as a downhill trail, but can also be used as an uphill route for e-mountain bikes, making it a versatile experience for different types of bikers. The route is also a so-called “shared trail”, which means that it is shared by different user groups. This requires consideration and attention to ensure everyone's safety. The natural beauty of the Thuringian Forest along the trail is impressive. You drive through dense forests, cross small streams and enjoy the silence and seclusion of nature along the way. It's a place where you can experience both the physical challenge of mountain biking and the calming effects of nature.

Nice trail with one or the other root. In the direction of Ilmenau, be careful at the end because the path ends on a forest road, which is often taken as a shortcut.

Very easy (S0, also ridable with a trekking bike), but still fun and beautiful. Easy to drive in both directions (moderate incline).

From my point of view, S1 and S2 passages alternate here. Overall or uphill (to the south) but imho S2. Going downhill (to the north) it's just fun as hell with an AM or Enduro; uphill you have to be physically AND technically quite capable in order to still be able to get up the heels + roots (and in the best case to develop fun at the same time).

Via the Eisenstieg it goes downhill through the thicket into the forest, where we encounter a world of fairies and trolls, pleasantly protected from the wind.

The trees have since been cleared. This trail is very demanding, especially in the beginning, but really great👍🏻.
