The historic building was destroyed in the Napoleonic Wars. What stands here today is a reconstruction. There is a small chapel in the Hermitage building. Only the exposed foundation walls of the Maria Reizenborn pilgrimage church remain. However, some wooden benches give a good impression of the dimensions. And there is also a story about this place of pilgrimage. A pilgrimage route to Spain led here. Many pilgrims took a break at the spring, including a mother with her sick child. The water from the spring is said to have healed the child and the child's father then built a chapel at the site in gratitude. So my daughter was a bit disappointed with the "cave". Even as a child, it was difficult to crawl a few meters into the tunnel. But a flashlight helps with the Schinderhannes Cave adventure. In front of the cave there is a small stream and picnic tables that invite you to linger.
