There are countless ascents to the summit plateau, each with its own charm, as long as you stay on the paths and keep an eye on protecting nature!

A great place to relax. There is a Kneipp pool for treading water and a small pool for your arms. Wonderfully fresh spring water comes out of the tap WITHOUT the typical German sign "Not drinking water". There is enough space on the lawn for a picnic without being disturbed. And right at the back in the corner there is a place for open-air church services.

Great well-maintained facility. Church services and, above all, baptisms often take place here.

Wonderful distant view to the southwest

The Hesselberg path is the classic hiking trail on the Hesselberg. It leads over the three peaks (main peak at the television tower, Wilhelmsstein and the highest point of the Osterwiese) as well as on the south side at "half the height of the mountain" on the route of circular hiking trail No. 1 to the most interesting parts of the Hesselberg. Included is the summit quarry, the quarry at Osterwiese and the upper linden avenue. A source and numerous information boards on geology, botany and history are a further enrichment. From the east side of the Osterwiese (view of Lindenallee) to the west side of the high plateau (view of the Kaiserberge / Black Spruce), the Hesselberg runs on the route of the European hiking trail E8. https://www.hesselberg-panorama.de/hesselberg-pfad.html

The kiosk on the Hesselberg is open on Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 12.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you want to go up to the summit cross, you have to walk the last 50 meters. At least racing bikes are closed at the kiosk!

Highest point in Franconia. The ascent is worth it.
