A beautiful walking path along the Salzach River; partly unpaved and untouched. Beyond the Kreuzfelsen rock, the trail was blocked because trees had fallen.

Nagelfluh can only form near the surface in this area, as this is where the pebbles from the glaciers were deposited. Nagelfluh rocks that are "below", e.g. the Kreuzfelsen, have broken down from the Nagelfluh cover, which is around 50 - 80 m higher there, because the Salzach has "undermined" it.

The Heldenstein boulder near Maierhof > a geotope and natural monument The Heldenstein is a quartz conglomerate boulder on a secondary deposit. The transition from quartz conglomerate to quartzitic sandstone can be seen in the rock. The boulder came to its current location as a result of a landslide. It is the remnant of a quartzitic conglomerate cover formed in the Miocene at the top of the quartz gravel. The relocation took place mainly during the Pleistocene. The boulder has been marked with a granite memorial plaque.
