The Waldschwaigsee is a gem for both those seeking relaxation and nature lovers (view map). It was created in 1971 by extracting gravel for the B 471. The isolated Waldschwaige farm stood here until around 1945. The lake is embedded in the moss landscape in the north-western part of the municipality, directly on the borders of the large district town of Dachau and the municipality of Bergkirchen. The area is largely natural, the lake has a size of 11 hectares, the small island gives the lake a romantic flair. The island was placed under protection as a landscape feature in 1975.
