A lot has happened here since my last visit, what a beautiful place it is, The goats are awesome, mowing work 🤣👌🌱

The Wendebach reservoir is a natural lake that was created in 1973 by artificial damming for flood protection. The area is used as a recreation area. The bathing area has a bathing jetty and a non-swimmer area, which is looked after by the DLRG.

Here is a natural viewing terrace with a wonderful view of the Werra valley to the south. There are benches, some of which are covered, and there is also a small observation tower so that the view does not become overgrown again so quickly. In the foreground is the stick-making village of Lindewerra. The reflections in the Werra are also very photogenic.

This is certainly one of the most beautiful vantage points in the area. In the foreground is the horseshoe-shaped Werra loop and behind it the Hessian mountains build up. On the right you can see Ludwigstein Castle, opposite is the Kaufunger Forest and on the left is the Hohe Meissner.

A great swimming lake including a small restaurant. Great place for a break or as a destination for a tour to have a cool drink at the end. The “Taverne am See” restaurant is only open in summer. What a beautiful piece of earth. If the weather is right, you don't want to go any further.

Next to the Teufelskanzel there is a lookout point that offers a fantastic view of the Werra Valley. There was an observation point for border controls during the GDR era.

From the Teufelskanzel you have a great view of the Werra valley. According to legend, the red sandstone rock got there because the devil made a bet with the witches. He wanted to carry the rock from the Brocken to the Meißner without putting it down once. But that was too tedious for him and so he paused on the Höhenberg and was caught by the witches. He then got very angry and left without paying any more attention to the rock.
