As the owner and operator of the Oberhof sports facilities, the Thuringian Winter Sports Center Association with the Thuringian Olympic Training Center is responsible for providing the conditions for Thuringia's elite and junior athletes in seven Olympic winter sports disciplines. The Thuringian Winter Sports Center hosts the skiing disciplines of biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and ski jumping, as well as the three runner disciplines of bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton. Very cool pump track that we probably wouldn't have found without a local there. However, the journey there is already tough.

Such a beautiful forest area which is destroyed by the MTB riders. Cross-country driving creates strong grooves in the ground. This loosens the underlying stones (rocks) and rolls down into the valley. For those walking below wander a danger. Furthermore, the trees lose their footing and in heavy rain the water can no longer seep away.

For all those who join the hype of winter sports, it is the flagship in Thuringia.

Historic ski jump that is now used as the finish line for the IXS Downhill Cup in Ilmenau. Mind you: The timing is only at the bottom of the hill, so that the drivers shoot over the jump at the top and then try to get down the ramp as quickly as possible. Just crazy to watch every time.
