A stag beetle cradle is, broadly speaking, a facility that provides suitable conditions for the development and maturation of stag beetle larvae. Pieces of rotting oak wood placed in the soil serve as breeding material. Here, one was created to provide shelter for the endangered beetles. An information panel explains exactly how it is constructed and what it does – a very sensible idea.

The fountain and the covered rest area are unspectacular on their own. But together they form an unusual and attractively designed place on the western slope of the Grosser Gleichberg.

I can only recommend the cafe at Frickenhäuser See. Will be open again from April. There are, among other things, very good cakes.
