aha, I thought that looked like one, but there actually is one. That's the crowning end of the IXS descent. Anyone who rides down there has my respect

When I explored this section in July, I was amazed at the quality of the trail. Despite previous concerns about stray trees, these obstacles had already been cleared, making way for a smooth and challenging ride. The trail begins with a particularly challenging section that will test every biker's skills. Technically demanding and partly blocked, it offers an exciting mix of natural obstacles and varied terrain. The section is not only challenging as a downhill trail, but can also be used as an uphill route for e-mountain bikes, making it a versatile experience for different types of bikers. The route is also a so-called “shared trail”, which means that it is shared by different user groups. This requires consideration and attention to ensure everyone's safety. The natural beauty of the Thuringian Forest along the trail is impressive. You drive through dense forests, cross small streams and enjoy the silence and seclusion of nature along the way. It's a place where you can experience both the physical challenge of mountain biking and the calming effects of nature.

I recommend long clothes for the stinging nettles and scrub in the summer. No idea how to ride some jumps (very big) but if you want to ride them, you should also think about protectors, because the landing area is very narrow (|).

Such a beautiful forest area which is destroyed by the MTB riders. Cross-country driving creates strong grooves in the ground. This loosens the underlying stones (rocks) and rolls down into the valley. For those walking below wander a danger. Furthermore, the trees lose their footing and in heavy rain the water can no longer seep away.

From my point of view, S1 and S2 passages alternate here. Overall or uphill (to the south) but imho S2. Going downhill (to the north) it's just fun as hell with an AM or Enduro; uphill you have to be physically AND technically quite capable in order to still be able to get up the heels + roots (and in the best case to develop fun at the same time).

The Adlersbergtrail, also called "Eisbärenweg", is very nice and flowy to ride even without bike park experience. But be careful, actually forbidden and hikers can also come towards you (own experience). So beware.

Historic ski jump that is now used as the finish line for the IXS Downhill Cup in Ilmenau. Mind you: The timing is only at the bottom of the hill, so that the drivers shoot over the jump at the top and then try to get down the ramp as quickly as possible. Just crazy to watch every time.
