Here, the Danube makes two large, almost circular bends through the wooded hills of the Mühlviertel and Sauwald regions – a spectacular experience that's perfect for exploring by bike. The cycle path runs directly along the Danube, is mostly flat, and well-paved. The section between Aschach an der Donau and Engelhartszell, which also passes the Schlögen Bend, is particularly recommended. From the ferry in Schlögen, you can easily cross to the other side to experience both sides of the loop. By bike, this section of the Danube Cycle Path offers a perfect combination of nature, culture, and culinary delights, ideal for leisurely day trips or multi-day tours along the Danube.
