There's a kind of "sidewalk" from Austria to Slovenia that you can ride your bike on. I recommend bringing a light.

Don't ride there. I know it's marked as a bike route, so I rode there too. But: it's very steep (14%), tough with saddlebags. The worst part, though, is the heavy traffic. Trucks, cars, and a few RVs/trailers whizz by with barely any distance between them. I found it dangerous.
