The Schaunberg ruins, often called Schaunburg, are one of the most impressive historical sites in Upper Austria. They tower above the Eferding Basin in the municipality of Hartkirchen and were once the largest castle complex in the state. Built around 1150 by Heinricus de Scovenberch, a member of the Julbach noble family, they are the ancestral seat of the Counts of Schaunberg and the center of the county of the same name. Originally approximately 17,500 square meters in size, they were the largest castle complex in Upper Austria.

Well, the hike went okay. The observation tower is nice with a nice view, but the trail is very poorly signposted.

The Feldkirchen bathing lakes comprise five quarry lakes in the Upper Austrian municipality of Feldkirchen, which are fed by groundwater from the nearby Danube. They have been open to the public as recreational facilities since 1973 and are managed by the state of Upper Austria. They have a total area of 630,000 m².
