Nice trail alternative to the main path.

Steep descent but still nice

The Pletzachalm circular trail is a great trail with a great route. When planning, remember that the trail is closed for safety reasons from November 1st to April 1st of the following year.

The trail entrance is pretty easy to miss. Nice S1 trail with one or two S2 sections.

Easy to drive downhill

Shortly after the crossroads at Weng, this wide but very steep S0 path leads down to Stans. It's not a scenic or technical highlight - but it's a great alternative to the asphalt road. In winter, it seems to be a floodlit toboggan run. In summer, it's a summer toboggan run for MTBs :-). Not technically demanding, but going uphill is a real pain or a lot of pushing for organic bikers. At the top of the Weng crossroads, there is a no-entry sign, including for bicycles. I think this refers primarily to the crossroads that leads straight ahead and then towards the Wolfsklamm.

A bit steep and the upper part (east-west crossroads in front of it) bumpy. On a dry surface, however, it is doable if you have good suspension and good brakes. Not recommended for going uphill.

I can absolutely agree with the above comments! Concerning. Hikers: even in early December there were hikers during the week. As beautiful as it is: anti-cyclical behavior is the order of the day. Otherwise it is definitely not fun because it is quite narrow over long stretches and it is really not easy to let it past.
