A quiet border pass with an alpine flair: The climb to the Paulitsch Saddle stretches over 16 kilometers with a moderate five percent gradient—ideal for a long, steady ride. There's hardly any traffic, beautiful nature, and a hint of the Balkan feeling on the Slovenian border. Tip: Ride in summer and bring plenty of provisions—there's nothing up there!

The Petzen (Slovene: Peca) is a mountain massif of the Karawanks in the border area between Carinthia and Slovenia, south of the town of Bleiburg.

In the north, the massif extends far into Austrian territory up to the Jaunfeld, where it reaches almost 1750 m. The highest peak is the Kordeschkopf (Slovenian: Kordeževa glava), which is right on the border and is 2126 m above sea level. A., whose normal route from the southern Slovenian side reaches the summit in an easy hike. This normal route is also accessible from Austria via the Kniepssattel.

Just because the Völkermarkt reservoir is half of the 7 ½ southern Carinthian lakes, you should still take it seriously. Strictly speaking, it is a river – the Drava. As such, it has very good water quality and a high diversity of species and is considered a real active jack-of-all-trades by ornithologists, fishermen, walkers, hikers, rowers, canoeists and cyclists alike.

This Rechberg is often forgotten by cyclists and hikers. The main roads are on either side of this road uphill.
