Kahakapao Loop Trail is a popular multi-use trail in the Makawao Forest Reserve on the island of Maui. It is mainly used for mountain biking and hiking as it winds through lush forest. Enjoy the shade of the trees, the peaceful sound of flowing streams, and beautiful flora along the way.

Bicycle rental service and workshop. Trail Kitchens (restaurant) also just behind. Public toilets also in the area, along with a place to wash up your bikes after a muddy ride if you wish!

Ride alongside the lake is easier with the sun behind you. Some steep and tight corners so avoiding sunstrike is a good idea. ie start at Wanaka in am andGlendhu in pm.

The access road does not look inviting. There was trash dumped in the area (refrigerators. washing machines; that sort of thing) but do not be deterred, the actual trails were great.
