The hiking trail to the Sigriswiler Rothorn comes close to the tunnel entrance. However, the trail turns left 50 meters before that.

The western entrance to the Schafloch is located slightly below the ridge and is easy to miss 👀 – pay attention to the trail markings! The entrance is via a short, steep path that can be slippery when wet ⚠️🥾. From here, the natural rock tunnel leads about 20m through the mountain – a fascinating experience 🪨⛰️. View: Right at the western portal, there is a magnificent view of Lake Thun and the Mittelland 🌄🌊 – be sure to pause for a moment and enjoy! Equipment: Sturdy hiking boots 🥾, possibly poles 🦯. A headlamp 🔦 is useful, as it is quite dark inside the tunnel. A cell phone 📱light will not suffice 😉. Safety: Not suitable in heavy rain or snow – the tunnel floor can become slippery. Recommended only for sure-footed hikers with a head for heights ⚠️. Special feature: The tunnel was formed by geological processes and is a rare natural phenomenon in Switzerland. It is one of the highlights of the Sigriswil ridge hike 🏞️.

🌄🏔️ Hike to the Hengst (2,092 m) in the Schrattenfluh - Switzerland's karst paradise: The hike to the Hengst begins in Sörenberg, either at the Salwideli mountain inn or at Alp Schlund. From there, a marked mountain path leads over steep karren fields and bizarre rock formations to the summit of the Hengst. The route is moderately demanding, so surefootedness and a head for heights are required. 🧗♂️ The ascent takes about 4-5 hours for the round trip, and during the hike you can enjoy impressive views of the Bernese Alps and the Mittelland. The unique karst landscapes are particularly fascinating, with their bizarre rocks and karren fields offering ideal photo opportunities. 📸 A magnificent panoramic view awaits you at the summit, and with a bit of luck you might even spot ibexes in the area. 🦅🌸 The best time for this hike is from June to October when the trails are free of snow and dry. Be aware that when wet the limestone rocks become slippery, so good weather is crucial for this tour. 🌞

The second highest and most conspicuous peak in the Niederhorn chain. Called Güggisgrat on the national map, the terrain rises gently from the south (Beatenberg) before falling abruptly into the Justistal towards the north. The winter tours offer wonderful views of Lake Thun and the Emmental.

Distinctive saddle between Zulzigraben and Justistal. An impressive place with steep walls to the east and west and special valleys to the north and south. Pleasant on foot, arduous on the bike.

Parking for 15 CHF/day - tickets available in Habkern. ⏳ Duration: 3.5 -5 hours depending on the tour, ideal for experienced hikers. 🏔️ Ascent: to 2,197 m - a real challenge! The steep climb requires surefootedness, but the breathtaking views are worth every effort. 🔭 Summit: The Hohgant summit offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Bernese Oberland, the Emmental and, in clear weather, even as far as the Jura - a real highlight! 🔄 Descent: Same way back or circular tour over the north ridge. ❗️Caution: The path becomes slippery when wet. 🥾
