5월 14, 2024, Hohe Wand Serpentines
Smooth tarmac, steep gradient, beautiful views but hard to fit in a frame without a wide-angle lens.

Wonderfully carved curves in the stone with a great view towards Wiener Neustadt and beyond. In the upper bend there is a small corner where you can stop for a moment and enjoy the view. Downhill you can quickly enjoy the great flow of the curves, but due to the (narrow) road width you should keep oncoming traffic in the corner of your eye. Uphill you are so distracted by the landscape and road layout that you don't think about the incline any further. This is crisper in the ascent before and in the meters after than in the bends themselves.

The "key point" on the climb to the Hohe Wand. You wind your way up elegantly.

6월 12, 2021, Klostertaler Gscheid Pass (764 m)
The Klostertaler Gscheid is not a really important pass between the Gutenstein Alps in the north and the Schneeberg massif in the south. At the highest point there is a small chapel. The L 134, which leads over the top of the pass, branches off to the north-east west of Gutenstein from the federal highway 21 and joins the B 27, the Höllentalstraße, after 16 kilometers south of Schwarzau. There are no steep inclines, it is more of a bumpy ride. Car and motorcycle traffic is very low. The road surface is quite old and sucks, but does not cause any problems for the racing bike and is easy to ride. The Klostertaler Gscheid can be easily combined with a pass round with the Rohrer Sattel, Haselrast, and possibly with a final trip from Gutenstein up to the Mariahilfberg.

6월 12, 2021, Rohrer Sattel
The Rohrer Sattel connects the towns of Rohr im Gebirge and Gutenstein in the Gutenstein Alps on the way from Vienna to Mariazell. Both driveways have two significant hairpin bends and are the same length, each 6.9 km. Nevertheless, the two sides of the pass are very different, as you only have to overcome a little more than half as many meters of altitude on the west side as on the east side. This pass can be built into a nice tour through the Gutenstein Alps, for example together with the Ochsattel, Auf dem Hals or the Klostertaler Gscheid. The road is wide. There is a lot of traffic at the weekend. Motorcycles are only allowed to drive 70 km / h, which luckily slows the motorsport mood a bit.

5월 15, 2021, Haselrast Pass Road
The Haselrast is located in the Lower Austrian Alps and connects the places Gutenstein (481 m) in the east and Rohr im Gebirge (683 m) in the west of the 782 m high transition. The narrow and winding road of the Haselrast, which leads a shadowy existence compared to the Rohrer Sattel, is absolutely recommended, as the Rohrer Sattel is very well developed and therefore takes up all motorized traffic. The view along the L4057 over the Haselrast is mostly limited and extends largely to the surrounding, wooded mountains. Haselrast offers seclusion, idyllic valley floors on both sides, streams and pastures. It is worth it ..

The pass connects Pernitz with Pottenstein and is one of the most beautiful sections in the Gutenstein Alps. The road is narrow and not very busy, perfect for collecting altitude. Auf der Hals can be combined well with the Rohrer saddle. The road climbs gently from Pernitz. Only a little after the end of the village the valley narrows, and there is only room for the road. Slowly but surely, the gradient increases from two to four and at 4.0 kilometers to over seven percent. Before you know it, after 5.3 km you are already up on the neck at the Passhaus and can look forward to the relatively long descent to Pottenstein.
