The Tappenkarseehütte is located just above the lake of the same name and is an ÖAV hut. In summer, it's a popular destination, including for overnight stays. We even managed to get a spot in the camp at short notice, but it was completely full. Because it was so crowded, everything felt a bit like a mass processing operation. Unfortunately, we didn't get the famous Kaiserschmarrn in the evening either; it's only available during the day. There are few vegetarian options, and no (posted) mountaineering food.

A unique highlight that should be seen at least once.

A beautiful highlight in a beautiful landscape, as well as a great photo opportunity.

Beautiful to walk/run in good weather, when it rains the trails become small streams> slippery> sure-footedness required, walk with poles if possible

Stunningly beautiful natural spectacle, but difficult to reach in winter and access is closed in the immediate vicinity

This round is 100 percent worth it ... even for the little ones

Magnificent waterfall with rope-secured access where it could be a little slippery...👍... since last winter (2024) there has also been a viewing platform at the falls... also within walking distance from the access road to Obertauern... when I was there with snowshoes in March, however, the area around the falls was closed

Very cozy rest stop with inexpensive portions to strengthen.
