도나우-아우엔 국립공원 내 도나우 강을 따라 펼쳐진 특히 아름다운 구간으로, 강과 대부분 자연 그대로의 범람원 풍경이 인상적입니다. 울창한 범람원 숲과 탁 트인 강변 지역 사이로 도나우 강과 강 건너편 풍경을 감상할 수 있는 아름다운 전망이 계속해서 펼쳐집니다. 고요한 분위기와 물, 자갈밭, 무성한 식생의 조화가 페트로넬-카르눈툼과 바트 도이치-알텐부르크 사이의 하이킹 구간을 매력적인 부분으로 만듭니다.

도나우 강 바로 옆 강둑에서는 풍경이 고요하고 본래의 모습을 보여줍니다. 넓은 강, 강둑의 식생, 그리고 주변의 강변 숲은 칸툰툼 주변의 들판과 역사적인 명소와 아름다운 대조를 이룹니다. 잠시 멈춰 서서 물 위로 시선을 보내며 도나우 풍경의 특별한 분위기를 즐기기에 이상적인 장소입니다.

Braunsberg Hainburg is a fantastic viewpoint with breathtaking panoramas of the Danube, the surrounding landscape, and even Bratislava in the distance. The atmosphere on the peak is truly special – you feel on top of the world. Keep in mind though, the road up is not the easiest, with a fairly steep incline in some parts, so comfortable shoes and a bit of stamina are highly recommended. Still, the effort is absolutely worth it once you reach the top!

The renaturation of the Danube near Hainburg, particularly in the Johler Arm area, is one of the most important ecological projects in the Austrian Danube region. The goal was to return the heavily regulated Danube to its natural state and to restore valuable floodplain forest and river habitats. The Johler Arm, a former branch of the Danube near Hainburg, was reconnected to the main stream as part of the project. This reconnection ensures regular water flow through the branch, restoring dynamic river processes such as flooding, sediment relocation, and natural bank formation. As a result, many rare animal and plant species – including fish, amphibians, and waterfowl – benefit from new habitats. The project also improves ecological continuity for migratory aquatic organisms. A landscape-enhanced floodplain landscape was created along the Danube, where the natural diversity of the Danube can once again be seen and experienced – a successful example of near-natural watercourse development in the Danube Floodplains National Park.

The Güntherhöhle can be reached from the tourist trail via a steep climb in a few minutes. The path is also suitable for active dogs.

It looks like there's a crescent moon on the dome, which more likely points to Muslim beliefs. So it could be much older than 100 years. I took the time to check which direction it faces: it actually "faces" southeast, toward Mecca.
