The Erzgrube Nagold Dam serves as flood protection in the Upper Nagold Valley. With a total length of 2,850 meters, a width of up to 250 meters, and a maximum depth of 35 meters, it is one of Baden-Württemberg's largest water reservoirs.

There are comfort columns around the pavilion. Here you can sit and take in everything.

The forest lake invites you to take walks and hikes in nature. The Wellness Forest, also located near the lake, offers further opportunities for recreation and relaxation in nature.

Due to its location in a deep hollow and the surrounding tall trees, the natural wind influence on the lake is significantly reduced, which impairs water circulation. To counteract this, a grid-powered forced water circulation system was installed to ensure sustainable regeneration of the water body.

The long loop is approximately 6 km. If you take the shortcut over the bridge, it's approximately 4 km. The entire route is paved. You can stop for refreshments halfway through at Seeheimer or at the Seekiosk in Erzgrube.

The highlight "Breitenbach" shows the stream after it flows out of the lake, but unfortunately none of those who posted pictures or those who wrote comments seem to have understood this.

Both the Sankenbachsteig (premium hiking trail) and the Baiersbronner Seensteig (quality trail) go along here. Both pass the Sankenbach waterfall and the Sankenbachsee. A beautiful part of the Black Forest, highly recommended.
