It's a lovely place to go for a walk. However, the main path is a combined cycle and footpath, so you can't really walk side by side as there are always cyclists on the road. That's a real shame.

On the way through the Königsforst, a forest area in the south of the city, which is particularly suitable as a shady hiking area in summer, depending on the route you take, you will also come to the highest point within the city of Cologne, the so-called Monte after its "discoverers". The fact that the forestry administration has removed the summit cross placed here can be classed as sacrilegious... a stone boulder now marks the - in itself unspectacular - measuring point.

The Japanese garden has its own character. Due to its island location, embedded in the Carl Duisberg Park, it appears mysterious, enchanted and hidden. The fixtures are striking, such as the teahouse, the red bridges and gates, and the ponds that surround the garden. The sound of rippling water is omnipresent and present in every season, as the ponds are supplied with fresh water 24 hours a day, which flows into the ponds through cascades.
